Most of my good friends have children. There were many situations when we would sit around and my friends would talk about what there kiddos were up to. People love to talk about their children. Anytime, any place is fair game for kid talk. Now don't get me wrong, my friends' children are great and I love hearing about their milestone and activities, but when you don't have a child it is really easy to find oneself not being able to contribute to the conversation. Every once and a while I would try to chime in with, "Well Maggie (my dog) did this yesterday...", but for some reason people do not like their children grouped in with a dog :).
I did not understand the love of talking about your child or children with others...after having Noah I get it. I am now part of this awesome club of "baby talkers".
I love talking about Noah's development. He is the strongest most genius baby that has ever been born and I love sharing that with people. The other day when I was checking out at Target and I was buying some baby items and the Target employee asked me if I had a child...boy did she open a gate of conversation! I informed her of the newest love of my life and how he is completely amazing in every way. The employee listened to my ramblings with a smile on her face and then proceeded to tell me about her grandchildren. She gets it too. She is also a member of the Baby Talkers Club.

Handprint
"Every day I am exploring, touching everything I have found.
I leave behind my little marks and handprints all around.
You clean up those handprints, but someday when I'm grown
you will wish you had just one handprint to keep for your own.
I made this handprint for you so that one day when I am tall
you'll remember what my hand looked like long ago when I was small."
Noah made this at daycare and he gave it to us for Christmas this year. While reading this poem I was completely reduced to puddles. I love that chubby little hand print so much. I tried to dry my tears as best I could because I had to run to Walgreens to pick up some pictures. While driving there I thought again of his handprint and tears welled up in my eyes. The lady at the Walgreens photo center noticed my tear stained face and asked me if everything was ok . I replied with a smile, "Yes everything is ok. I just got a really special "hand"made Christmas present from my son."

Thankfulness
For the second year in a row Reid and I flew solo for Thanksgiving. Last year we went to our local grocery store on Thanksgiving Eve to get our prize bird. So this year in "fly by the seat of our pants" fashion we ventured back to the same grocery store the day before Thanksgiving in hopes of getting the fixings for a feast. The saying "early bird gets the worm" usually holds true with most life situations, but in the case of finding a turkey the night before Thanksgiving the "late bird gets a $30 turkey for $3". The only mistake that we made was that we bought the smallest bird we could find. When it comes to our waist smaller is better, but that theory does not hold true when you want a juicy turkey.
This is our 11 lb golden Turkey
This is our 12 lb 2 oz Turkey!

Two Months
This is a sampling of the "faces of Noah" that were captured
by Diane Peabody

| The first face of the photo shoot. It went south very fast |

| This was Noah's face for most of the photo shoot |
Diane was so amazing. She started taking pictures on Saturday,
but with all the crying and arm flailing
(not to mention that Noah was upset too!)
she wonderfully came back on Sunday to finish the shoot.
Still not impressed with the idea of being photographed
Closest we could come to a smile

First Halloween
Noah is dressed up as a very angry peapod!
His puppy Maggie is a pumpkin princess and even though she is not as vocal as Noah,
she also does not like her costume. It is also Maggie's 3rd birthday today :)
Happy Halloween!

Definitions
If the commandment says "Love your neighbor as yourself" then why do people get so hung up on the sex of the person that is loved? We are called to love one another...bottom line. We are called to be witnesses to each others lives.
We feel the need to have definitions that people need to fit into. If you don't fit into whatever the definition is then you are "bad", "a sinner", or "those people". God can not be confined by a definition and I don't believe that he wants us to be confined either. If He could fit into a definition then He would not be God, but instead a moldable idol.

When I leave this world I do not want to be remembered as a heterosexual middle class caucasion woman. Those words limit me.
I will not be limited.
